Posted on by

On Saturday, September 26th,2015 the Rocky Mountain Flameworkers gathered at Glasscraft’s studio in Golden for the Beads of Courage Bead Challenge.  The studio was full of flameworkers making beads to donate to the Beads of Courage organization. The event participants were Becky Noe, Jill Knapp Cambell, Leslie Bitgood, Max Donald, Jacques Hennig, Dee Dee Rich, Cindy Brown, Alana Nicholson, Deborah Carlson, Shannon Winski, Lezlie Foster, Charlotte Coyle, and Jody Welch.

What is Beads of Courage?

Beads of Courage is a nonprofit organization that supports children coping with serious illnesses including Cancer and Blood Disorders, Cardiac Conditions, Burn injuries, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and Chronic Illness. As a child goes through treatment, they are rewarded with beads for procedures or to mark milestones in their treatment. Each bead is a way of recording their journey and rewarding their bravery. Beads of Courage supports more than 60,000 children dealing with serious illnesses in over 250 hospitals throughout the US and abroad. Glasscraft's own Cindy Brown was there churning out beads as Shannon Winski watches.

Everyone was having a great time making beads, chatting and sharing tips with each other.  Dee Dee Rich is focusing on shaping.

Here is Jacques Hennig putting the finishing touches on a bead.

Jill Knapp Campbell and Alana Nicholson hard at work.

There were trucks, cats, monsters, and rocket ships!

They made 100 beads in one day!
